So, my current obsession is Ubuntu. For those of you who don't know, Ubuntu is the most popular distribution of Linux. For those of you who don't know what Linux is, see you in a few.
I started out dual-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu, but about a month ago I took the plunge and completely wiped Windows from my system. Initially, I was lured away from Windows with the promise of free stuff, but I found a lot more than that once I dug in. Ubuntu has a HUGE community behind it that is constantly making improvements and sharing knowledge. Since Ubuntu is open source, anyone can make any changes to the operating system that he or she sees fit. As such, the customization potential is staggering - and delicious.
Like any good nerd, I love to tinker with settings. Any settings will do. I'll spend more time in a piece of software's menus than I will actually using the software.
Hence my Ubuntu obsession. I mean, it's become a real problem. Today is my day off of work (which is essentially me sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours), and I haven't left my laptop for more than 5 minutes since I got out of bed. That was about 7 hours ago. My dog has been doing this:

since lunch.
All this to say, most of what you'll read here for the next few weeks or months or however long it takes me to get bored and move on to something else (which happens a lot), will be about my adventures with Ubuntu. There will be tips and tricks, my friends.
Tips
and
Tricks.
And possibly some things about the new Mass Effect 2 DLC “Arrival.” Assuming I can pull myself away from my computer long enough to plop myself down in front of my 360.
